PTU Tutorial "Serenity Park" and Extras

Click on image to view full size.
There are no examples; users should have a working knowledge of PaintShopPro (PSP XI is the version I used).

Supplies:

* "Serenity Park" is a PTU scrapkit by Jackie's Jewels available for purchase >HERE<
* Tube of Choice - I used "Becky" by Verymany which can not be used without a License >HERE<
* Font of Choice - I used a free one called Kikelet
* Mask of Choice - I used RR_MaskSet66_Mask3 by Rachel >HERE<. Be sure to say thank you if you download.

~ Here We Go ~

- Open New Canvas 800x800 to have room to work; fill bottom with White.
> If you prefer a specific size for your tags, what I do is create a 600x600 Gray Canvas then copy and paste it as New Layer.  This gives me a better idea for resizing elements as I go along.
- Add a new layer, fill with Landscape Gradient or another of your choice, or a Paper from the kit. Apply Mask of choice - resize to suit your tag size.
- Copy and paste Tree1; resize 65%; Sharpen.  Duplicate; move copy over to the left; resize 70%.
- C&P Kite; resize 40% Sharpen; place near tree.
- C&P Fence1; resize 45% Sharpen; place to right.
- C&P Fountain; resize 47% Sharpen; place to left slightly in front of the smaller tree.  I know canvas looks a bit "odd" right now - we're trying to give the illusion of fountain more in the distance.
- If you'd like, C&P Flowers3 resize 80% Sharpen; place to the left behind Fountain.  Duplicate; image Mirror; place to the right a bit.
- C&P Bench; resize 40% Sharpen; place in front of Fountain.
- C&P Flower Bundle2; resize 40%; Sharpen; place in front of the Fence.  Paste again; resize 30% this time; Sharpen; place next to larger bundle.
- The rest I tend to assemble around the style of Tube I chose for my tag, in this case one that is sitting.  C&P your Tube then begin adding any of the extras you like for completing your design.

- I added the following:
Grass
Stone Path
Row of Flowers
Flower Bundle2
Frog
Woodpecker
Bucket
FlowerCone
Butterfly1

- Add Drop Shadow to all of the Elements and the Tube.
- Delete the white layer and the 'size' layer.  Select the Crop Tool; crop to merged opaque.
- Resize if necessary; sharpen if needed (this will depend on when/if you do any resizing).
- Add your Crediting Information. Adding them after resizing your tag will ensure that they remain crisp; clear; and easy to read.
- Add your Name - I used the "Kikelet" font, Size 60 Points, 1 Stroke, Text Color #e098b2, Stroke Color #ffd6e8.  I added Drop Shadow:
1 / 2 / 80 / 8 / Black

"Frosty" by Dance In The Rain

If you're looking for a really cute Winter Themed kit, then be sure to check out "Frosty" by Dance In The Rain.  It's available at PicsForDesign and is so adorable.  What caught my eye was the Polar Bear ... I love animals.  There are beautiful snowy trees and other neat things to create with as well as "scenic" style papers.

Here's a preview of the kit and the Facebook Timeline Set that I created for the Designer.

CT Tut - Let's Hit The Road / PTU

Click on image to view full size.
There are no examples; users should have a working knowledge of PaintShopPro. I do not recall all of the settings I used.

Supplies:
* I am using PaintShop Pro XI
* Tube of Choice - I used an Exclusive by Zlata_M which can not be used without a License.  You may purchase the tube from PicsForDesign.
* "On The Road Again" is a PTU scrapkit created by Jackie’s Jewels
* Mask of Choice – I used Rocked by Rachel Number 4 from Set 20 >HERE<.  Be sure to say thank you if you download.

~ Here We Go ~

Open a new canvas 900x900; gives you lots of room to work.  You will resize at the end before adding the credits.
Copy & paste MirrorFrame as a new layer.
Open Paper3; copy.
Back on frame, use Freehand Selection tool to trace around the opening.  When you finish and see the "ants", add a New Layer.  Then go Edit; Paste Into Selection.  The Paper that you copied will be inserted.  Select None.  Move below frame layer.
Open Cactus2; copy and paste as new layer on top of the Paper.  Resize; place where desired.  Duplicate; resize again; place where you like.
Open Sign1; copy and paste as new layer above frame layer; resize.
Open Suitcase; copy and paste as new layer; resize.
Open States; copy and paste as new layer; resize.
Open RoadTripKeychain; copy and paste as new layer; resize.
Open Envelope1 (Postcard); copy and paste as new layer; duplicate.
On the duplicate, Select All; Float; Defloat - keep selected.
Open Paper2; copy, then Edit; Paste Into Selection on the duplicate postcard. Select None.
Move the Paper layer above the Postcard then change the Layer Blend Mode to one of your choice.  I used Overlay; then merge down.
Rotate left 10 degrees, if desired.
Open Keys; copy and paste as new layer; resize.
Copy and paste your Tube.
Open Drink; copy and paste as new layer; resize.  Duplicate; rotate right 90 degrees.
Open Camera; copy and paste as new layer; resize.
Select your paper for Mask Layer - I used Paper8; copy and paste onto your canvas.
Open your Mask; apply mask; resize if necessary.
Now go back and add Drop Shadow to all layers to your liking.
Delete the white layer; crop to visible layers.
Resize your tag; all layers (my tag is 595x518).  Now add your Credits.  Adding them after resizing your tag will ensure that they remain crisp; clear; and easy to read (the way most stores require in their TOU).
Add your Name and any Effects.
Save your tag.  I saved mine in Transparent PNG Format

Thank you for trying my tutorial.  Any ideas contained that are similar to others are purely coincidental.  Do not copy and claim as your own.  Group Owners may link to my tutorial.

- I did not use Raster Layers 2 and 11 of the Template.

Raster 4 - Select All; Float; Defloat; Selections; Modify; Expand by 1. Open Paper 4; copy and paste into Selection; select none.

Copy and paste Tree2 above Raster 4; Mirror. Apply optional Corona:
EyeCandy 4000 Corona:

Overall Opacity    100
Color        #5f4620

Copy and paste your Tube. Add other elements to decorate your tag; I used Moon, Candle, Black Cat, Dead Grass, Empty Lantern, Broken Glass.

Add Drop Shadows to your layers.

I cropped then re-sized all layers. When you re-size, be sure to sharpen as needed.

> Font of Choice - I used Wizards Magic

> Eye Candy 4000 Gradient Glow (optional)

~Here We Go~

* NOTE * For my tag, I recolored all of the "Glitter" layers to #593829 using PSP's Manual Color Correction. (Raster 5, 7, 9, 11, and 14) When I finished adding papers and/or tubes to the layers that had these frames, I merged visible and re-named with original Raster Layer Names used in the Template.  For example, Raster 7 is the glitter frame for Raster 3. When merged visible, name is RASTER 3.

For my personal taste, the template is quite large. I re-sized all layers so that the end result is less than 600x600 (on a duplicate of course). Delete credit layer and Raster 15.

One layer at a time, on Raster 8 and Raster 10, perform these same steps. Select All; Float; Defloat; copy and paste Paper 13. Selections; Invert; hit Delete on paper layer. Select none. Delete template layer.

On Raster 10 circle Select All; Float; Defloat; copy and paste Close-Up; position to your liking; Selections; Invert; hit Delete on tube layer. Select none. Change Blend Mode to one that suits your tag.

Repeat for the Raster 8 circle. Depending upon the look you want, perhaps use a different blend mode.

On Raster 3 Circle Select All; Float; Defloat. Duplicate layer; keep selected. Open Paper 4; copy; Paste Into Selection. Select None.  Delete template layer.

Open Lanterns; Copy and paste; mirror; re-size as needed; place where you like best.

On Raster 2 Circle Select All; Float; Defloat. Duplicate layer; keep selected. Open Paper 9; copy; Paste Into Selection. Select None.  Delete template layer.

On Raster 12 Select All; Float; Defloat; copy and paste Paper 11; position over the rectangles to your liking. Selections; Invert; hit Delete on paper layer. Select none. Delete template layer.

Open Fog; copy and paste above the Raster 12 layers; position where you like.

Open Moon 2; copy and paste; re-size to fit your tag; place below Raster 12 rectangles.

Open Bird 3; copy and paste; re-size to fit your tag; place above Moon.

On Raster 4 Select All; Float; Defloat; Modify; Expand by 1. Copy and paste Paper 3; position to your liking. Selections; Invert; hit Delete on paper layer. Select none. Delete template layer.

Open Skeleton 2, copy and paste above Paper 3; re-size as needed; place where desired.

Open Magic, copy and paste; Rotate 90 Degrees (left or right). Place to left or right side of tag; send layer to bottom. Duplicate; image; mirror. This element will appear differently on white background than it does on black background.

Copy and paste your Tube as top layer. Add other elements to decorate your tag; I used Cauldron, Candle, Books, Flower, Grass.

I cropped then re-sized all layers my final tag dimensions are 591x536. When you re-size, be sure to sharpen as needed.

Now add the proper Crediting. Adding them after resizing your tag will ensure that they remain crisp; clear; and easy to read.

Now add your Name. I used the Wizards Magic Font and added Noise and small Gradient Glow.

Thank you for trying my tutorial.  Any ideas contained that are similar to others are purely coincidental.  Do not copy and claim as your own.  Group Owners may link to my tutorial.

SUPPLIES USED:
- I used PaintShopPro XI
- Tube and Close-up of Choice. For my tag I chose Zlata_M, available from The PSP Project.  Do not use the artwork without a License.

- Simone Template 83 - If you download, please say thank you.
- Filter: Xero - Porcelain
- Filter: EyeCandy 4 - Gradient Glow
- Font of Choice - I used Great Vibes (a free font)

~Here We Go~

This template has a Resolution of 762 Pixels Per Inch - you might want to Resize and change that to 72ppi (on your duplicate of course).

For my tag, I resized the wordart 90%.  With Magic Wand select the 5 and the " marks.  Copy and paste Close-up of your Tube.  Keep selected - copy and paste Paper 1.

Invert selection; hit Delete on tube layer and paper layer.  Select non.

Apply Xero Porcelain to close-up tube (Default settings).  Change Blend Mode to Soft Light.

On the paper, I applied a very thin Black Gradient Glow.  You could also use a thin dark drop shadow.

I left the two dotted layers as-is.

Add whatever other elements from the kit that you would like to decorate your tag with.  I used:  Scatter, Leaves 1, Flower Cluster, Squirrel, Bird, and Birdhouse.

I resized all layers so that my tag would be less than 600x600.
